{"id":305,"date":"2026-03-15T22:07:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T22:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/refundauthority.com\/?p=305"},"modified":"2026-03-17T22:30:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T22:30:21","slug":"canadian-securities-regulators-release-updated-numbers-on-disarming-more-than-7500-fraudulent-investment-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/refundauthority.com\/?p=305","title":{"rendered":"Canadian securities regulators\u2019 release updated numbers on disarming more than 7,500 fraudulent investment websites"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"305\" class=\"elementor elementor-305\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f51da02 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f51da02\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2024b12 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2024b12\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>CALGARY \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>In recognition of Fraud Prevention Month, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) today released updated results from its effort to disrupt fraudulent investment websites targeting Canadians.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>Between June 5, 2025, and February 12, 2026, CSA members worked together to successfully facilitate the deactivation of more than 7,586 fake investment platforms and crypto scam websites involving more than 13,000 individual URLs associated with those sites.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnline investment scams continue to pose a serious risk to Canadians, and we are using a full range of regulatory and enforcement tools, including advanced technological capabilities, to proactively identify and disrupt fraudulent websites,\u201d said Stan Magidson, Chair of the CSA and Chair and CEO of the Alberta Securities Commission. \u201cThis initiative strengthens our ability to protect investors and underscores the importance of working closely with regulatory partners, industry and law enforcement to combat online investment fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>Combatting online fraud is a shared responsibility. Over the past year,\u00a0securities regulators have intensified their coordinated\u00a0and\u00a0cross-sectoral efforts\u00a0to disrupt fraudulent activity, prevent online harm, and\u00a0protect and educate investors.\u00a0In addition, the CSA recognizes and supports initiatives by\u00a0industry groups\u00a0and\u00a0law enforcement\u00a0agencies aimed at addressing this growing threat.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>This Fraud Prevention Month, the CSA continues to urge investors to remain vigilant and to look out for\u00a0common red flags\u00a0of investment fraud. Investors should always check the registration of anyone who tries to sell them an investment or give them investment advice with\u00a0the CSA\u2019s National Registration Search.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>The CSA will begin including statistics about deactivated websites in its annual Year in Review publication starting in 2026.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><strong>Suspect you or someone you know is a victim of an investment scam?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>If you feel like you or someone you know has been approached or is a victim of a fraudulent investment, contact your\u00a0local securities regulator.
